Chinese Ambassador Yao Wen paid a farewell call on State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today.
The State Minister appreciated Ambassador Wen’s contribution to strengthening Bangladesh-China relations and to the successful visit of the Prime Minister to China. He noted that bilateral ties had been elevated to a “Shared Community” level during Wen’s tenure, with mechanisms including the State Minister-level 2+2 dialogue set to commence.
Ambassador Wen said it had been an honour to serve Bangladesh for three years and nine months. He congratulated the Foreign Minister on his election as President of the UN General Assembly and reaffirmed China’s continued support for Bangladesh’s development.
He also said the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China ( IDCPC) Minister plans to visit Bangladesh later this year. The State Minister thanked Ambassador Wen and wished him success in his new assignment.
