আজ সোমবার (২০ এপ্রিল ২০২৬) বাংলাদেশ জাতীয় সংসদের মাননীয় বিরোধীদলীয় নেতা এবং বাংলাদেশ জামায়াতে ইসলামীর আমীর ডা. শফিকুর রহমান, এমপি’র সঙ্গে ইন্টারন্যাশনাল ইনস্টিটিউট ফর ডেমোক্রেসি অ্যান্ড ইলেক্টোরাল অ্যাসিস্ট্যান্স (ইন্টারন্যাশনাল আইডিয়া)-এর একটি প্রতিনিধিদল সৌজন্য সাক্ষাৎ করেন। বৈঠকটি মাননীয় বিরোধীদলীয় নেতার সংসদীয় কার্যালয়ে অনুষ্ঠিত হয়।
ইন্টারন্যাশনাল আইডিয়া প্রতিনিধিদলের নেতৃত্ব দেন সংস্থাটির এশিয়া অ্যান্ড দ্য প্যাসিফিক অঞ্চলের পরিচালক লিনা রিক্কিলা তামাং (Leena Rikkila Tamang)। প্রতিনিধিদলের অন্যান্য সদস্যদের মধ্যে ছিলেন কনস্টিটিউশনাল গভর্নেন্স অ্যান্ড রুল অব ল প্রোগ্রামের প্রধান সুমিত বিসারিয়া (Sumit Bisarya)।
সাক্ষাৎটি অত্যন্ত আন্তরিক ও সৌহার্দ্যপূর্ণ পরিবেশে অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। বৈঠকে বাংলাদেশের জাতীয় সংসদের কার্যকারিতা, ‘জুলাই চার্টার’সহ বিভিন্ন গুরুত্বপূর্ণ বিষয় নিয়ে আলোচনা হয়। সফররত দল বাংলাদেশের গণতন্ত্র ও প্রাতিষ্ঠানিক সংহতি জোরদার করার বিষয়ে সহযোগিতার আশ্বাস দেন। আমীরে জামায়াত তাঁর বক্তব্যে গণতন্ত্র ও স্থিতিশীল বাংলাদেশ বিনির্মাণে জামায়াতের ঐতিহাসিক ভূমিকা উল্লেখ করেন এবং একইসাথে জুলাই সনদ ও গণভোটের রায় বাস্তবায়নে জামায়াতের দৃঢ় অবস্থান পুনর্ব্যাক্ত করেন।
এ সময় মাননীয় বিরোধীদলীয় নেতা ডা. শফিকুর রহমান এমপি’র সঙ্গে উপস্থিত ছিলেন ঢাকা-১২ আসনের সংসদ সদস্য জনাব সাইফুল আলম খান মিলন, এমপি এবং বিরোধীদলীয় নেতার পররাষ্ট্রবিষয়ক উপদেষ্টা দলের সদস্য জনাব আলী আহমাদ মাবরুর।
Courtesy meeting held between the Leader of the Opposition and the International IDEA delegation
Today, Monday (20 April 2026), a delegation from the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA) paid a courtesy call on the Honorable Leader of the Opposition of the Bangladesh Parliament and Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dr. Shafiqur Rahman MP. The meeting was held at the parliamentary office of the Honorable Leader of the Opposition.
The International IDEA delegation was led by the organization’s Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific, Leena Rikkila Tamang. Other members of the delegation included Sumit Bisarya, Head of the Constitutional Governance & Rule of Law Programme.
The meeting was held in a very cordial and friendly atmosphere. Discussions covered various issues of mutual interest, including the effectiveness of the Bangladesh National Parliament and the “July Charter.” The visiting delegation assured their support in strengthening democracy and institutional integrity in Bangladesh. In his remarks, the leader of the opposition and Jamaat Ameer highlighted his party’s historical role in building a democratic and stable Bangladesh and reaffirmed Jamaat’s firm position on implementing the July Charter and the verdict of the referendum.
Among others, Jamaat-e-Islami’s central executive council member and the MP from Dhaka-12 constituency Saiful Alam Khan Milon, and Ali Ahmad Mabrur, a member of the Leader of the Opposition’s Foreign Affairs Advisory Team were present on the occasion.
