China reiterates support for Bangladesh’s democratic transition and key development project

The Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Bangladesh, Mr. Yao Wen, paid a courtesy call on the National Security Adviser, Dr Khalilur Rahman, at the Chief Adviser’s Office on Sunday, discussing bilateral cooperation and issues of mutual interest.
The meeting was held in a cordial and constructive atmosphere, reflecting the longstanding friendship between Bangladesh and China. During the discussion, both sides exchanged views on a range of issues of mutual interest and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening development cooperation between the two countries.
Key topics included the Teesta River Comprehensive Management and Restoration Project and the proposed Bangladesh–China Friendship Hospital. In this context, Ambassador Yao Wen informed that he would visit the Teesta project area soon and reiterated China’s commitment to completing the ongoing technical assessment of the project expeditiously.
The Chinese Ambassador also reaffirmed his government’s continued support for Bangladesh’s ongoing democratic transition. He conveyed China’s best wishes for the successful conduct of the forthcoming national elections.
Both sides expressed satisfaction with the positive momentum in bilateral relations and reiterated their shared commitment to further enhancing cooperation for mutual benefit in the days ahead.
